Missionary to Cambodia
Abbotsford, BC Canada
As you can see by the dateline, we have moved to Canada and are starting our one year Home Assignment. It feels funny to call it home since we don’t really feel at home. Many of you dear friends and family know that that word is hard to define for a world traveler. We pretty much classify home as where we have a mailing address and where most of our suitcases are. For now, it is 2724 McCurdy Place, Abbotsford, BC Canada V2T5L2. Our phone number is (604) 854-10221.
We left Cambodia and headed for Bangkok where Patti, David & Melanie had complete physicals. We wanted all the tests run to be sure we hadn’t picked up something undesirable.

We left Cambodia and headed for Bangkok where Patti, David & Melanie had complete physicals. We wanted all the tests run to be sure we hadn’t picked up something undesirable.
Praise God the results were negative on all counts. Considering the conditions of where we lived for the past four years, that is nothing short of a miracle. David’s cholesterol levels were even on the low side of acceptable. After a few days, we boarded a flight for Hong Kong and on to BC. Once again, God’s hand was evident as we had a very short lay-over and all the baggage made it safely to Vancouver. We were met by good friends and family there and spent Father’s Day relaxing and getting used to a new time zone. God provided us with a house through Sevenoaks Alliance church and a reasonably priced car through a Christian brother. The women of the church had worked hard to make us very comfortable at our new address. Within days of being in Abbotsford, our main computer crashed and all we had was The Blue Screen of Death. Yet again God intervened and we bumped into an old friend and computer wizard. Just one evening later, we were back up and running. I am reminded of a song from way back that states, “Oh yes He cares, I know He cares; His heart is touched with my grief”. It feels great to know that God is watching over us. He will provide all our needs.
Back in Cambodia, the missionaries are gearing up for Annual Field Forum. They will be massing at a hotel by the sea for a week of relaxing and being witnessed to by Mike Sohm. There will be time for business as well and the newly formed Field Management Team will be addressing several important issues. Please pray for the four men who now handle the Field’s direction. Pray also for travel mercies as so many will be braving the dangerous roads to and from Sihanoukville.
Typical Pnong long-house in Mundol Kiri
We had asked you to pray about the Youth Evangelism Explosion (YEE) clinic with the Pnong tribal people in Mundol Kiri. The plan was that Jesse and David would attend, but a last minute date change made our involvement impossible. The clinic happened a few days later and was a great success. It is exciting to empower people to advance the borders of the kingdom of heaven. Imagine being able to introduce the All Powerful to a frightened and powerless people group. Twenty six young people received certification upon completion of the training, thirty gospel presentations were given and eleven people made a decision to accept Christ. In June, another YEE clinic was held in Rattana Kiri province among the J’rai tribal people. There were forty-three clinicians from six different churches. During the training the good news was shared to 133 people. Pray that the message will germinate in many minds, and result in a great harvest some day. Also pray for the upcoming clinic in Koh Kong where we prepared the soil some months ago.
Before we left, I spoke with Pastor Saul of the Tum Nup Tuk church. He begged me to place his congregation before you all as often as possible. His heart is huge and his responsibilities are great, but his resources are meager. The new church building is progressing nicely, but were it not for generous financial support from you all, they would be stuck in their old building until it fell down around them. Very soon now they will move into the sanctuary and continue building the other floors. Giving has dropped of late and Pastor Saul is trying not to be discouraged. This is such a worthy cause that even though the financial climate of the world is bad, I encourage you to make a donation to this worthy cause. Your donation can be given to any Alliance church in Canada or the US as long as you mark it “TNT Building - Cambodia”. You may also send it to either national office of the C&MA.
We are grateful to all who support us by giving to the Global Advance Fund. Our living allowance, rent and transportation expenses are paid from this collective pot. Money given and marked “Ens - Work Special – Cambodia” is used for various ministries we are involved in. The less that goes into the big pot, the more needs to come from the small pot. Either way, we are dependant on you in order to continue to be your hands and feet in Cambodia.
Serving Christ with the Christian & Missionary Alliance in Canada,
